The latest issue of our Brotzeitung has been published. This time, it focuses on a topic that has shaped Zermatt for generations: mountaineering.
However, the focus is not on records or summits. Rather, it centres on values such as responsibility, preparation, trust and respect – values that also guide our daily work in the bakery.

For this in-depth interview, we had the opportunity to speak to Patrice Biner from the Young Mountain Guides Foundation Zermatt. He offers fascinating insights into the training of young mountain guides, explains why Zermatt is a special place for training, and outlines the values that guide the next generation on their journey.

The Mountain Guide Bread – a slice of Zermatt
In keeping with the theme, we’d like to introduce our Mountain Guide Bread. It has been one of the most famous breads from the Fuchs Bakery for many years and is still made by hand today using our own traditional recipe.
Made with fresh Valais apples, figs, nuts, sultanas, cinnamon, cocoa and our secret flour blend, the result is a bread that many guests have enjoyed for years. At the same time, the Mountain Guide Bread supports a good cause: as a Silver Partner of the Young Mountain Guides Foundation Zermatt, we donate 1,000 Swiss francs from the proceeds of the Mountain Guide Bread to the foundation every year.
Personal stories and fascinating facts
In this issue, Sandra and Philipp Fuchs also talk about their personal connection to the mountains. From their first trips with the SAC Youth Group, through joint mountain tours in Zermatt, to expeditions in the Alps, the Andes, Africa and the Himalayas. It becomes clear just how much their experiences in the mountains have shaped their work as entrepreneurs and hosts.
The newspaper is rounded off with fascinating facts about the Matterhorn and a competition with attractive prizes.
