A life dedicated to bread – Pius Fuchs in retrospect

In the current anniversary edition of the "Brotzeitung", we look back not only on 60 years of the Fuchs bakery, but also on the life of Pius Fuchs, the founder of this story.

In an interview, he recalls the first loaves of bread, which were baked in the shell of a basement. He remembers nights without electricity, the first oven, which was more of a symbol than a machine, and all the steps that were necessary to build something of his own.

A start without security, but with a lot of heart

With Yolanda by his side, Pius founded the Fuchs bakery in 1965. The beginning was anything but easy. But with a lot of perseverance, craftsmanship and a deep belief in what matters, a business was created that still supplies the village with bread today.

Stations, encounters, experiences

Whether as a bicycle courier, baker's apprentice, Swiss expat in England or seasonal worker in Zermatt, every step was part of a bigger picture for Pius. His retrospective is full of little anecdotes, touching memories and quiet insights.

Still part of the whole today

Even though he handed over the business long ago, Pius is still very much present, whether in the bakery, on his bike or on the theatre stage. His story is inspiring because it shows how much can be achieved when you just get started.

You can find the full interview with Pius in the new Brotzeitung magazine, available in our branches or directly online.
